The Drexel Entrepreneurial Association started its year off with a bang by hosting one of Philadelphia’s top young entrepreneurs, Adnan Aziz, founder and VP of First Flavor Marketing.

For years, companies have been trying to develop a marketing scheme that will allow potential consumers the ability to taste test their products before purchasing, in an attempt to increase sales and consumer satisfaction. This is precisely what Adnan Aziz, a University of Pennsylvania graduate with a double major in bioengineering and political science, did in 2005. He and his team developed a company based on small soluble flavor strips which would be included in various magazines, books, and other media outlets for their target audience.

Every entrepreneur has their own story as to how they got where they are. His story consisted of many nights of sleeping on friend’s couches after graduation, taking the risk of not entering the work force to pursue his dream of creating a business, and the countless hours of research he did before actually launching the business.

While listening to his presentation, he spoke about how he got his idea while watching the popular children's movie, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", the scene in which Wonka tells the children to lick the fruit flavored wall, he began to think that maybe that fantastical notion could possibly be brought to life. It's amazing to see how a simple thought like that could lead to something so successful in a short period of time. He even brought two sample strips for his audience that night, a "Mojito" drink strip, and a "Crest" toothpaste flavor strip. After trying both, it was easy to see why his technology would and is succeeding..
